Free use of leisure facilities on July 1 well received
******************************************************
Leisure Facilities Free Use Day, which was specially organised in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), was held successfully last Saturday (July 1) by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) with more than 194 000 people having used the LCSD's leisure facilities in the 18 districts free of charge.

"Leisure Facilities Free Use Day was well received by members of the public. A usage rate of 97 per cent was recorded for the main arenas of sport centres while over 103 000 people enjoyed swimming for free at LCSD swimming pools," a spokesman for the LCSD said today (July 3).

As one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the HKSAR's establishment, various fee-charging LCSD recreation and sports facilities were open for free use by the general public on July 1 to share the joy on Leisure Facilities Free Use Day. The activity also aimed to encourage the public to participate in more sports activities with their families and friends as well as to develop a healthy lifestyle through bringing exercise into daily life.
