CSSA caseload for May 2017

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in May remained more or less at the same level as compared with that of April, registering a slight increase of 70 cases, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (June 21).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of May stood at 236 259 (see attached table), with a total of 345 666 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.7 per cent to 4 915 cases while unemployment cases showed a slight drop of 0.1 per cent to 13 867 cases.

     Old age cases and single parent cases increased slightly by 0.1 per cent to 144 906 cases and 26 755 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases and ill health cases remained steady at 17 399 cases and 24 034 cases respectively.
