***************************************************************

A new aerial photo collection entitled "Flashbacks of Two Decades in Hong Kong - A Collection of Hong Kong Aerial Photos", presented by the Lands Department (LandsD), went on sale today (June 16).

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Survey and Mapping Office (SMO) of the LandsD published a new edition of its aerial photo collection - Flashbacks of Two Decades in Hong Kong - to showcase major changes in the city over the last two decades through a display of the aerial photos taken by the LandsD at different times.

The new edition of the aerial photo collection has five featured themes, namely planning and infrastructure, transport, public housing, leisure and culture, and nature conservation. A spokesman for the LandsD said, "The first four featured themes involve a total of 44 sets of aerial photos to demonstrate the present and past faces of buildings and land features. The last featured theme on nature conservation is an embellishment to allow readers to escape from bustling city life to green Hong Kong - the city's oasis."

The 166-page Flashbacks of Two Decades in Hong Kong, priced at $170, is available at all sales outlets of the SMO, six post offices (General Post Office, Kowloon Central Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Mong Kok Post Office, Kwun Tong Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office), certain local bookstores and the SMO's online map shop (www.hkmapservice.gov.hk). Information on the SMO's sales outlets is available at www.landsd.gov.hk/mapping/en/pro&ser/outlet.htm. For enquiries, please call 2231 3187.
