Yuen Long Public Library will open at its new location at noon next Monday (June 19), offering more comprehensive and diverse library services to the residents in the district.

     Located on the ground and first floors of the Yuen Long Leisure and Cultural Building at 52 Ma Tin Road, Yuen Long, the new library has a floor area of about 2 900 square metres and has been established as a district library. Facilities and services include an adult library, a children's library, a newspaper and periodicals section, a computer and information centre, an express check-in service, a self-service book borrowing service, an extension activities room, a multimedia library and a students' study room with 200 seats.

     The new library has a collection of about 140 000 items, including Chinese and English books for adults and children as well as audio compact discs. More than 150 local and overseas newspapers and periodical titles are also available in the newspapers and periodicals section for people of all ages and interests.

     In addition, the library will promote reading by organising regular extension activities such as book displays, storytelling for children, subject talks and user education sessions. Schools and members of cultural and educational organisations are also welcome to contact the library for group visits to learn more about the library's facilities and services.

     Yuen Long Public Library will open from noon to 8pm on Mondays, from 9am to 8pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from 9am to 5pm on Sundays and public holidays. For enquiries, please call 2479 2511.

     To complement the opening of the new library, the existing Yuen Long Public Library located at 1/F Yuen Long Government Offices, 2 Kiu Lok Square, Yuen Long, will provide services until 5pm on June 18.
