SED to enhance education ties between Hong Kong and neighbouring economies

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will leave Hong Kong for Myanmar next Tuesday night (June 13) as part of the efforts to strengthen education ties between Hong Kong and countries along the Belt and Road (B&R).

     During the duty visit to Yangon on June 14 and 15, Mr Ng will meet with officials of the Ministry of Education, Myanmar, for deliberations towards signing a memorandum of understanding on education co-operation between the two places and implementing the B&R scholarship as soon as possible. He will also call on a number of schools and University of Yangon to look for co-operation opportunities for their counterparts in Hong Kong.

     On June 16 and 17, Mr Ng will go to Macau and Zhuhai respectively to meet with their education officials to deliberate on ways to enhance education co-operation in the development plan for a city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area. He will also visit a number of schools and the new campus of the University of Macau in Hengqin, and learn more about the latest developments in Zhuhai.

     Mr Ng will return to Hong Kong in the evening on June 17. While Mr Ng is on duty visit, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will act as SED.
