The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) co-organised a number of business seminars and receptions in the Nordic and Baltic countries to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR 20th anniversary) in May and June 2017.

The business seminar cum reception in Oslo, Norway on June 7, co-organised by the London ETO with the Norway-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, Invest Hong Kong and DNB AB, was attended by representatives from the Norwegian government, business sector and academia. The theme of the business seminar was "Hong Kong - 20 years, one country, two systems". Key speakers included the State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, Ms Dilek Ayhan, and Director-General of the London ETO, Ms Priscilla To.

Speaking at the business seminar in Oslo, Ms To said, "Over the past 20 years, Hong Kong has overcome many challenges as a society. Throughout these challenges, Hong Kong has displayed resilience, adaptability and determination, and used these crises to take stock, upgrade and look for new opportunities in a globalised world economy. Not only have we maintained our edge and continued to thrive as Asia's world city, we have identified new impetus in our economy and developed new areas for economic growth, such as creative and cultural industries, start-ups, innovation and technology, and legal and arbitration services."

"Looking ahead, as Hong Kong continues to progress, we will stay strong together to explore new opportunities to spur further development, and to continue to contribute to the development of our Motherland," she added.

The London ETO co-hosted a HKSAR 20th anniversary business seminar cum reception with the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Invest Hong Kong in Tallinn, Estonia on May 23, and a reception with the Denmark-Hong Kong Trade Association and Asia House in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 1 respectively. Both receptions featured a special music performance by three talented young Hong Kong musicians based in the UK.
