Transcript of remarks by CS at media session (with video)
*********************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, at a media session after meeting with the pan-democratic Legislative Council (LegCo) members today (June 1):

Reporter: Mr Cheung, how did your meeting with lawmakers go? Would the Government consider taking any specific measures to speed up the fund approval requests ...?

Chief Secretary for Administration: I had a very useful informal discussion yesterday and today with pro-establishment and also pan-democrats respectively. My concern basically is the very slow progress made so far in processing, approving items, on Finance Committee and various sub-committees. By purpose of meeting the members I could really make an appeal that we just work together, both Government and the LegCo members and parties as well, to make the best use of the time remaining until the end of the current term. In other words, the time left, you know, is limited. We should make the best use of every single minute for processing items on the table. And all these are really livelihood issues, and also related to Hong Kong's infrastructural development. They are required for Hong Kong moving forward. So I called upon all members today in our hour-long session that we should work closer together. For example, if they have questions to raise on certain policy matters, can they really alert us a bit earlier so that our colleagues can prepare answers fully either in written form or actually at the meetings concerned? So it's to expedite the proceedings. At the end of the day more items can be approved before the end of the current term.
