Family Council holds "Inter-generational Family Day" (with photos)
***************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Family Council:

The Family Council, the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) jointly held "Inter-generational Family Day" this afternoon (May 30), with an aim to encourage inter-generational communication and promote extended family support in the community.

The Chairman of the Family Council, Professor Daniel Shek, the Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Laurie Lo, and other guests shared messages on creating harmonious family relationships with families participating in the event through talent shows and games. Professor Shek encouraged the younger generation to respect the elderly, care for children and love their siblings, thereby passing on the traditional Chinese values of filial piety and fraternal duty.

Apart from organising a series of promotional activities jointly with RTHK, the Council and HAB will organise an activity named "Happy Moments of Family" in the third quarter to mark the 10th anniversary of the Family Council in 2017. Photos of happy family gatherings will be collected, to be followed by online voting for the photos. Through these activities, the Council hopes to strengthen communication among family members and promote inter-generational harmony.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the Council's Happy Family Info Hub (www.familycouncil.gov.hk) for details of the publicity event and other upcoming family programmes, as well as family-related information.
