Aircraft skids off runway

     A China Eastern Airlines A321 aircraft today (May 24) skidded off the runway after landing at Hong Kong International Airport.

     "The aircraft concerned (flight number: MU765) was flying from Nanjing to Hong Kong at 10.52am today. The Civil Aviation Department's (CAD) Air Traffic Control Tower spotted the aircraft deviating from the runway after touching down. It eventually stopped with its nose wheel and the right-hand main landing gear rested on the grass area. The CAD immediately initiated the emergency alert procedure and notified relevant parties to attend to the incident," a spokesman for the CAD said.

     The CAD is investigating this serious incident.
