Fatal traffic accident in Tin Shui Wai

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tin Shui Wai today (May 22) in which a 68-year-old male minibus driver died and a 46-year-old male driver, four male passengers as well as five female passengers were injured.

     At about 11.35am, a minibus driven by the 68-year-old man was travelling along Shenzhen Bay Bridge towards Shenzhen. When reaching Shenzhen Bay, it reportedly hit a stationary Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

     In the accident, the minibus driver and a 73-year-old male passenger were trapped inside the compartment and were rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries to his head, the minibus driver was certified dead at scene.

     Nine passengers aged between 21 and 73, including the passenger once trapped inside the compartment, as well as the 46-year-old male SPV driver were injured and were sent to Tuen Mun Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
