Owner given suspended sentence for violation of safety legislation
******************************************************************
An owner of a suspended working platform was sentenced to one month's imprisonment suspended for two years at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (May 15) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Suspended Working Platforms) Regulation. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved an accident that occurred on October 24, 2014, at a public housing estate under maintenance in Kwai Chung. While two workers were working on a suspended working platform for plastering work for the external wall of a building block, the suspended working platform suddenly tilted. As a result, one worker sustained a right leg bone fracture while the other worker sustained right middle finger dislocation.
