Exhibitions, French market and tree planting day among coming week's HKSAR 20th anniversary celebration events (with photo)

     Exhibitions, a French market and a tree planting day are among the coming week's top events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
 
     The second leg of the "HKSAR 20th Anniversary Roving Exhibition" will open at Metro City Plaza III in Tseung Kwan O on May 19 (Friday).
 
     The exhibition will feature winning entries of the 20th anniversary poster and video competitions. An LED touchscreen panel will be set up at the venue to showcase the developments and achievements of the HKSAR over the past 20 years in areas such as the economy, technology, infrastructure, tourism, culture and sport.
 
     An interactive game zone as well as a giant rubber duck, birthday cake and longevity bun for photo-taking and selfies are also among the attractions. The 20th anniversary theme song "Hong Kong Our Home" and two promotional videos with the theme of "Together • Progress • Opportunity" will also be shown. Visitors can take home a 20th anniversary souvenir distributed on the day after clicking the "Like" button on the HKSAR 20th anniversary Facebook page www.facebook.com/HKSAR20.
 
     The exhibition will be held until May 25 at the Atrium, 1/F, Metro City Plaza III, 8 Mau Yip Road, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories. The opening hours will be from 10am to 9pm. Members of the public are welcome to visit and admission is free.

     A weekend market named "Le Moment by The Harbour" will be held from May 18 to 21 (Thursday to Sunday) at the Central Harbourfront to let the public have a taste of the French lifestyle.
 
     The venue will be set up like a typical market in France surrounded by scenes of sidewalk cafes and architectural buildings, and beer and traditional French delicacies such as cheese and crepes will be on sale.
 
     The market will also feature artists from France and Hong Kong performing live music and art entertainment, including French street artist Nasty and local indie band Opium.

     The "Po Leung Kuk Joint Art Exhibition cum Celebration for the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR" will be open to the public in Wan Chai with free entry from May 18 to 20 (Thursday to Saturday).
 
     The exhibition will showcase oil paintings, 3D designs and other creative artwork created by children who have expressed their imagination on the 20th anniversary. More than 600 works under the theme of a city of creativity by children from 27 kindergartens cum nurseries and special centres of the Po Leung Kuk will be displayed at Comix Home Base, 7 Mallory Street, Wan Chai. The opening hours are as follows:
 
May 18 (Thursday): 3pm to 7pm
May 19 (Friday): 10am to 7pm
May 20 (Saturday): 10am to 4.30pm

     The Kwun Tong District Community Tree Planting Day cum Carnival for the Persons with and without Disability will be held at Sau Ming Road Park in Kwun Tong from 10am to 1pm on May 20 (Saturday).
 
     The event's planting and carnival activities aim to encourage greater social integration among people with and without disabilities while supporting greening in the community.
 
     The event is suitable for all ages. Admission is free and people can sign up to join on the spot. Participants are reminded to wear comfortable clothing and sports shoes, and to carry drinking water. For enquiries, please call 2343 6123.

     To share the joy of the 20th anniversary, the HKSAR Government is joining hands with different sectors to organise a wide variety of activities and events under the theme "Together • Progress • Opportunity".
 
     Altogether, more than 600 events and activities will be staged by the Government and different sectors until the end of 2017.
