Cluster of Influenza A cases in Tseung Kwan O Hospital

The spokesperson for Tseung Kwan O Hospital made the following announcement today (May 12):
Four boys (aged 1 to 12) and two staff members in a Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Ward had presented with fever and upper respiratory symptoms since May 6. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the child patients and staff members. The child patients and one staff member were confirmed as having Influenza A. Two of the children have recovered and have been discharged, while the other two are still under treatment in stable condition.
The infection control measures in the ward have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients and staff in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
