FEHD raids unlicensed food factory in Yuen Long (with photo)

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) raided an unlicensed food factory on Pak Sha Shan Road, Yuen Long, this morning (May 2).

     During the operation, FEHD officers seized a batch of blood curd and pig intestines weighing about 650 kilograms and some tools. A 77-year-old man was arrested and will be charged with operating an unlicensed food factory.

     "The FEHD will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food factory activities. Under the Food Business Regulation (Cap 132X), anyone operating an unlicensed food factory commits an offence and is liable to a maximum fine of $50,000 and imprisonment for six months upon conviction," a spokesman for the FEHD said.

     "Members of the public can report a suspected unlicensed food factory by calling the FEHD hotline 2868 0000."
