New Harbour Road Sports Centre to open on May 8 (with photos)
*************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (April 28) announced that the new Harbour Road Sports Centre will be open for public use starting from May 8 following the completion of its reprovisioning works.

With a total area of 6 300 square metres, the new sports centre provides a multi-purpose arena that can be used as two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, two netball courts or eight badminton courts; two dance rooms; five squash courts (with three courts set aside as squash courts-cum-activity rooms); one table-tennis room with seven table-tennis tables; and a fitness room.

The new sports centre is reprovisioned adjacent to the existing Harbour Road Sports Centre, which will be demolished to facilitate the construction of the MTR Shatin to Central Link. Its design has incorporated eco-friendly elements, including a green roof to beautify the environment and solar panels on the rooftop to generate renewable energy for the daily operation of the facilities.

Harbour Road Sports Centre is located at 27 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, and easily accessible by MTR and bus. It will be open from 7am to 11pm daily, except on the second and fourth Monday of every month when it will be closed from 8am to 2pm for regular maintenance.

Members of the public can reserve the facilities of the new sports centre starting from tomorrow (April 29) via the Leisure Link computerised booking system, booking counters, self-service kiosk, or by telephone reservation through the telephone services centre in accordance with LCSD's booking procedure for leisure and sports facilities. For enquiries, please call the venue staff at 2827 9684.
