Quality Education Fund announces refinement measures for fund applications
**************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Quality Education Fund Steering Committee:

The Quality Education Fund (QEF) Steering Committee today (April 27) announced two refinement measures for fund applications with a view to encouraging more projects to promote quality education.

1. Raising the grant ceiling for mini applications

In 2014, the QEF introduced simplified application procedures and requirements for applications for grants sought not exceeding $150,000 (henceforth classified as mini applications) to address the specific needs of schools. An applicant can submit in each school year a maximum of two mini applications.

The QEF Steering Committee has reviewed the application and assessment procedures of mini applications and agreed to raise the grant ceiling from $150,000 to $200,000 with immediate effect.

2. Waiving the mini application quota for collaborative projects under the "Joyful@School" Campaign

In the 2016/17 school year, the Department of Health and the Education Bureau jointly launched the "Joyful@School" Campaign with the aim to enhance student participation in activities related to the promotion of mental health. Applicants can submit mini applications to the QEF for funding of activities related to the campaign.

To facilitate multi-sectoral collaboration and encourage more non-governmental organisations/tertiary education institutions to form partnerships with schools to conduct activities relating to the promotion of mental health, the QEF Steering Committee has agreed that collaborative mini applications under the "Joyful@School" Campaign will not be subject to the quota for mini applications (the existing quota for each applicant is two per school year). With the raising of the grant ceiling for mini applications, the maximum grant approved for mini applications under the campaign will accordingly increase to $200,000.

To facilitate applicants' preparation of proposals under the "Joyful@School" Campaign, the QEF has uploaded an Information Note for the campaign to its website (qef.org.hk). The Information Note contains a link and a QR Code to successful projects for applicants' reference.

For details of the two refinement measures, please refer to the Guide to Applicants and the above-mentioned Information Note on the QEF website.
