CSSA caseload for March 2017

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in March showed a drop of 159 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent compared with that of February, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (April 26).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of March stood at 236 522 (see attached table), with a total of 346 709 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.8 per cent and 0.8 per cent to 5 054 cases and 13 981 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases showed a decrease of 0.3 per cent to 17 423 cases. Single parent cases dropped slightly by 0.1 per cent to 26 779 cases.

     Old age cases registered a slight increase of 0.1 per cent to 144 781 cases while ill health cases remained steady at 24 105.
