Japanese restaurant management company C& Higo Dining Co Ltd announced today (April 21) that it has opened a restaurant, kappo ro ann, in Hong Kong, promoting genuine Kumamoto cuisine and culture in the city.

Located on the 28th floor of iSQUARE in Tsim Sha Tsui, the restaurant offers hotpot dishes, sushi and sashimi made with fresh ingredients imported from Kumamoto prefecture against the backdrop of a panoramic harbour view, according to the CEO of C& Higo Dining Co Ltd, Mr Koji Honda. The interior design also resembles the image of Kumamoto Castle.

Mr Honda said, "Hong Kong has the highest export volume of ingredients from Kumamoto and people here love Japanese food and culture. It offers a good leverage for our restaurant as we need to import a large amount of ingredients from our home city."

He added that the investors also want to promote Kumamoto culture with the restaurant in a bid to revive visitors' interest in the prefecture. "There is a corner in our restaurant dedicated to the prefecture's products and information. We hope to  leave Hong Kong people with good impression of our prefecture by providing them with an unforgettable Kumamoto dining experience in our restaurant," he said.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Dr Jimmy Chiang welcomed the opening of kappo ro ann in Hong Kong. He said, "With the special theme of Kumamoto, we hope the restaurant can make good use of Hong Kong's business advantages in the food and beverage sector to promote the prefecture's food and culture in the city. We wish kappo ro ann every success in Hong Kong and beyond."
