EPD to hold two public forums on municipal solid waste charging
***************************************************************
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will hold two public forums on municipal solid waste (MSW) charging to enable the community to have a better understanding of the proposed implementation arrangements.

The implementation of quantity-based MSW charging will create financial incentives to drive behavioural changes in waste generation and hence reduce the overall waste disposal. The Council for Sustainable Development (SDC) had conducted an extensive public engagement exercise on MSW charging and recommended to the Government an implementation framework. Following the SDC's framework, the Government announced earlier the proposed implementation arrangements of different aspects in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

Details of the two public forums are as follows:

Interested members of the public may submit the reply slip (See Annex) and register through email (mswcharging@epd.gov.hk) or fax (3509 4630) or by calling 3462 2841.
