SED to visit Shanghai and Hangzhou to promote education co-operation

    The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will leave Hong Kong next Thursday (April 20) for Shanghai and Hangzhou, where he will meet with local education officials and attend university exchange activities to promote co-operation in higher education.
 
    Arriving in Shanghai, Mr Ng will meet with officials of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission to explore opportunities to enhance co-operation between higher education institutions of the two places.
 
    Mr Ng will arrive in Hangzhou the following day (April 21). Apart from meeting with officials of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, he will also visit the China Academy of Art and exchange views with its management and students from Hong Kong.
 
    On April 22, Mr Ng will visit the Zhejiang University and attend the International Summit on “Belt and Road” Innovation and Entrepreneurship jointly organised by the Zhejiang University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
 
    Officials accompanying Mr Ng on his visit to the Mainland will include the Principal Assistant Secretary for Education (Higher Education), Ms Sharon Ko, and the Political Assistant to the SED, Mr Jeff Sze.
 
    Mr Ng will return to Hong Kong on April 23. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
