LegCo to resume Second Reading debate on Appropriation Bill 2017

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (April 12) at 11am and Thursday (April 13) at 9am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Appropriation Bill 2017 will resume and Members will speak on the Bill.

     Members will also resume the Second Reading debate on the Private Columbaria Bill. If the Bill is supported by Members and receives its Second Reading, it will then go through the Committee stage and be read the third time. 

     On Members' motions, Mr Chan Hak-kan will move a proposed resolution under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Road Tunnels (Government) (Amendment) Regulation 2017, the Tsing Ma Control Area (Tolls, Fees and Charges) (Amendment) Regulation 2017 and the Tsing Sha Control Area (Tolls, Fees and Charges) (Amendment) Regulation 2017 laid on the table of the Council on March 22, 2017 to the meeting of May 10, 2017.

     Mr Yiu Si-wing will also move a proposed resolution under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Antiquities and Monuments (Declaration of Proposed Monument) (Hung Lau) Notice laid on the table of the Council on March 22, 2017 to the meeting of May 10, 2017.

     Meanwhile, Members will ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, all of which require written replies.

     Members of the public are welcome to observe the proceedings of the meeting from the public galleries of the Chamber of the LegCo Complex.
