Transcript of remarks by STH
****************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, speaking to the media after attending a public function this afternoon (April 8):

Reporter: Can you tell us the progress of the co-location checkpoint arrangement? What would be the directions and legal solutions?

Secretary for Transport and Housing: The Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) Government is still in discussion with the Mainland authorities on issues relating to legal arrangements for co-location of CIQ (customs, immigration and quarantine) clearance facilities. At this stage, we are still in final discussion with the Mainland authourities. It is not appropriate for us now to comment on any speculation, any purported report on what is to be done. But, when we are ready, we have set ourselves a target of seeking to finalise the arrangements within the current term of government. When we are ready, of course, we will release the details and explain to the community the actual arrangements and the legal foundation for those arrangements.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
