Fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po in the afternoon today (April 7) in which a 63-year-old woman died.

     At about 4pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 51-year-old man was travelling along Nam Cheong Street towards Shek Kip Mei. When reaching the junction with Apliu Street, it reportedly knocked down the 63-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious injuries to her limbs and abdomen, the female pedestrian was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 5.12pm.

     The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back in mid-May.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
