Transcript of remarks by Chief Executive-elect after attending radio programme
***************************************************************

Following is a transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive-elect, Mrs Carrie Lam, after attending a radio programme this morning (April 1):

Reporter: What is the difficulty you are facing right now when forming the cabinet? What is your expectation towards the top three officials?

Chief Executive-elect: My expectation for every Principal Official is that they should have the ability and commitment to serve the people of Hong Kong, and of course to serve Hong Kong people well.  This is not an easy task because of the many difficulties and challenges ahead, and also because of a highly politicised environment. Very often in my own experience, the concerns of your family members are also a deciding factor, so I would try my very best to inspire and impress upon suitable candidates.  This is a moment, a historic moment to serve Hong Kong, because there are still many opportunities in front of us and I really want to make Hong Kong a better place for the future generation, and I hope that those suitable candidates will share my passion. What is your first question, sorry?

Reporter: Any difficulty…

Chief Executive-elect: Actually I also replied to that. The difficulties are this is not an easy task, as you will appreciate, and also because of the high level of public scrutiny that sometimes make those potential candidates worry about whether their privacy could be respected in discharging their duties of a Principal Official.
