Holiday arts and fun in LCSD parks (with photo)
***********************************************
Members of the public are invited to participate in the new phase of Arts Corner to be launched by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) at Victoria Park this Sunday (April 2). Visitors will be able to view a wide variety of stalls selling traditional and trendy handicrafts and arts services while strolling around and enjoying the park amidst its flowers and birds.

The 18th phase of the Arts Corner at Victoria Park will run from April 2 till March 31 next year, and will be open from 10am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays at the park's South Pavilion Plaza. The Arts Corner comprises 23 handicrafts and arts services stalls displaying and selling various kinds of handicrafts and artistic works such as fabric crafts, knotting, pottery and ornaments, as well as providing cultural and arts services including painting, photography and portrait drawing.

The Arts Corner aims at enhancing public interest in arts and enriching the arts atmosphere in Hong Kong. It will also make the park a more appealing and enjoyable place for visitors.

Apart from Victoria Park, another Arts Corner is being staged in Hong Kong Park while a similar one in Kowloon Park will be in place from June.

The 17th phase of Hong Kong Park's Arts Corner is open between noon and 6pm every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday. It will continue until December 31 at the outdoor area near the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware inside Hong Kong Park. There are 10 stalls in operation including handicrafts stalls selling leather goods, sand paintings, pottery and ornaments, as well as arts stalls providing cultural and arts services including painting, silhouette cutting and portrait drawing.

At Kowloon Park, the 19th phase of the Arts Fun Fair will run from June 4 this year to May 27, 2018, and will be open from 1pm to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays at the Loggia. Individuals or non-profit making organisations (any charitable organisation which is exempt from tax under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance) who are interested in operating the stalls in this new round of the Kowloon Park Arts Fun Fair, which comprises 30 handicrafts and arts services stalls, are welcome to submit applications between April 3 and 24. Prospectuses and application forms can be obtained at 1/F, Kowloon Park Management Office, 22 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, or downloaded from the park's website: www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/parks/kp/other/arts_and_crafts.html.

"The Arts Corner has been well received in past years. While taking a break at the Arts Corner, park-goers can also visit other facilities of the parks and spend some pleasant time there," a spokesman for the department said.

For enquiries on the Arts Corners, please call 2890 5824 (Victoria Park), 2521 5041 (Hong Kong Park) or 2724 3344 (Kowloon Park).
