Young soprano Candice Chung to give vocal recital in May

     Young soprano Candice Chung will give a vocal recital in May. The performance is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and entitled "Our Music Talents Series: Vocal Recital by Candice Chung".
 
     Accompanying Chung will be pianist Timmy Tsang, and together they promise to take the audience on a melodic and sentimental journey.

     The programme will include Rachmaninov's "Never Sing to Me Again"; Brahms's "Die Mainacht"; Wolf's "Mignon: Kennst du das Land?" and Duparc's "Chanson Triste".

     Chung earned her bachelor of music degree at Manhattan School of Music in 2011 where she studied with the Metropolitan Opera's Mark Oswald and renowned American soprano Ashley Putnam. In 2015, she graduated from Eastman School of Music with a master's degree and studied with renowned American mezzo-soprano Katherine Ciesinski.
 
     Chung was awarded third place at the 34th Annual Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition and won an Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions in 2015. She has participated in many operas including "The Old Maid and the Thief", "Our Town", "Manon", "Rosenkavalier", "Le Nozze di Figaro", "Don Pasquale" and "La Belle Helene".
 
     Timmy Tsang studied piano performance and accompaniment with Gabriel Kwok at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree (piano performance) with first class honours and a professional diploma (opera repetiteur/accompanist) with distinction. He has performed as repetiteur and accompanist for various operas such as "Don Pasquale", "Una Cosa Rara", "Die Zauberflöte", "La Bohème", "Aïda", "Die Fledermaus", "Gianni Schicchi", "Suor Angelica" and "L'Elisir d'Amore". 
 
     "Our Music Talents Series: Vocal Recital by Candice Chung" will be staged at 8pm on May 7 (Sunday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall.
