CHP investigates suspected food poisoning case
**********************************************

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (March 30) investigating a suspected case of food poisoning.

The male patient, aged 48, reported a burning sensation in his throat in less than a minute after consuming raisins, on a daily basis, purchased from a shop in Tseung Kwan O from February 20 to 25. The symptoms subsided within about five to 10 minutes each time. He has remained in a stable condition all along and did not seek medical attention.

Remnants of the raisins tested positive for sulphur dioxide at a level of 3 100 parts per million upon testing of the Government Laboratory yesterday (March 29).

"We have informed the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of the findings. Investigations are ongoing," a spokesman for the CHP said.

The CHP reminded the public to purchase food from reliable shops.
