Tenor David Quah to host lecture series on Mozart's opera works

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present four demonstration lectures under the "When Mozart Goes to the Opera" series in May. The lectures will be hosted by renowned tenor David Quah. He will collaborate with pianist Timmy Tsang to delve into the magic of Mozart's operas.

     The lectures will cover Mozart's comic operas, serious operas, opera collaboration with the librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte and German light operas. All lectures (to be conducted in Cantonese) will take place at 7.30pm at the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Space Museum. Details are as follows:

     Winner of the noted Marianne Mathy Australian Singing Competition, Malaysian-born tenor David Quah made his professional debut singing as Don Ottavio in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" with Opera Queensland. He moved to Hong Kong in 2000 and started teaching singing at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has appeared on concert stages all over the world and has given many recitals with repertoire ranging from baroque music to contemporary works, Chinese folk songs and a Broadway musical.
