LD to hold occupational health public talks

     The Labour Department (LD) will hold a public talk entitled "Noise Hazards and Prevention of Hearing Loss" on April 6 (Thursday) to give the public a briefing on the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Noise at Work) Regulation and the Occupational Deafness Compensation Scheme. The health hazards caused by noise at work and measures for preventing hearing loss will also be introduced.

     The talk will be held at 3pm in the Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. The LD's Occupational Hygienist and Occupational Health Nurse, and the Occupational Deafness Compensation Board's Director of Operations, will give the talk.

     The LD will hold another talk entitled "Occupational Safety and Health for Confined Space Workers" on April 10 (Monday). The talk will elaborate on the occupational safety and health hazards of working in confined spaces, as well as preventive measures, to enhance workers' awareness of the issues.

     The talk will be held at 3pm in Activity Room 1, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The LD's Occupational Hygienist, Occupational Safety Officer and Occupational Health Nurse will give the talk.

     The talks will be conducted in Cantonese. Admission is free. For enquiries or registration, please call 2852 4040.
