Transcript of remarks by Chief Executive-elect
***********************************************
Following is a transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive-elect, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session this evening (March 29):

Reporter: Did you speak to Mainland officials about concerns, Hong Kongers' concerns, about Mainland officials interfering in Hong Kong affairs and what are their responses, and especially on calls for the Liaison Office to stay hands-off on LegCo affairs?

Chief Executive-elect: Well, during my meeting with the Central People's Government Liaison Office, the main purpose is really to introduce my Manifesto, especially those aspects which have a Mainland dimension, because nowadays the Hong Kong economy and the Mainland economy are very closely integrated so there are quite a few things in my Manifesto that require support and co-operation from the relevant Mainland authorities. So that formed an important part in my conversation with Mr Zhang Xiaoming. I have also shared with him some of my feelings and observations during the election campaign, including this perception of some people in society and also my public statement that in the next term of Government all the things that we need to do and to lobby members of the Legislative Council should be done by the Hong Kong SAR Government. Mr Zhang readily agreed with my observation and my view, because these matters squarely are matters for the Hong Kong SAR Government to undertake. Thank you very much.
