Chief Executive-elect pays courtesy calls on CPG's offices in Hong Kong (with photos)

     The Chief Executive-elect, Mrs Carrie Lam, paid courtesy calls on the various offices of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong this afternoon (March 29).

     Mrs Lam first called on the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr Zhang Xiaoming, at the Liaison Office. At the meeting, Mrs Lam briefed Mr Zhang on how her election manifesto had elaborated on the ample scope and opportunities for Hong Kong to further develop itself under the framework of the "one country, two systems" principle and the country's broad platform of development.

     She subsequently paid a courtesy call on the Acting Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR (OCMFA), Ms Tong Xiaoling, at the OCMFA. Mrs Lam expressed her gratitude to the OCMFA for its help provided to Hong Kong citizens throughout the years. She told Ms Tong about her proposed new role for the HKSAR Government and that the Government would enhance its ties with overseas regions to boost Hong Kong's status as Asia's world city.

     The Chief Executive-elect concluded her visits by calling on the Commander of the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Lieutenant General Tan Benhong, and the Political Commissar of the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Lieutenant General Yue Shixin, at the Headquarters of the Garrison.
