LegCo Panel on Transport visits Hong Kong Link Road and Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (with photos)

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Transport conducted a visit to the construction sites of the Hong Kong Link Road (HKLR) and Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF) of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) today (March 28) to see the progress of works on site.  Members of Panel on Environmental Affairs are also invited to join the site visit.

     Members first visited the seawall construction site of HKLR and received a briefing by representatives of the Highways Department on the extent of reclamation.  Members expressed concerns on the news reports about the "seawall collapse" occurred in the course of the reclamation works and listened to the explanation from the representatives of the Highways Department. 

     Members then observed the construction of the Passenger Clearance Building at HKBCF and related facilities.  They also visited the viaduct deck to learn more about the works progress of HKLR.

     The Panel on Transport discussed issues relating to the works of HZMB and the Hong Kong projects at its meeting on February 24, 2017.  The agenda and discussion papers of the meeting can be found at the following website: www.legco.gov.hk/yr16-17/english/panels/tp/agenda/tp20170224.htm.

     Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of Panel on Transport, Mr Chan Han-pan; the Deputy Chairman of Panel on Transport, Dr Kwok Ka-ki; the Chairman of Panel on Environmental Affairs, Miss Tanya Chan; the Deputy Chairman of Panel on Environmental Affairs, Dr Junius Ho; Panel members, Mr Chan Hak-kan, Ms Claudia Mo, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Wu Chi-wai, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Ma Fung-kwok, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Mr Poon Siu-ping, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Chung Kwok-pan, Mr Chu Hoi-dick, Mr Chan Chun-ying, Mr Luk Chung-hung, Mr Kenneth Lau Ip-keung and Dr Cheng Chung-tai.
