Regarding a news report today (March 28) alleging that several contractors met with the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, and the Director of Highways, and that the Secretary for Transport and Housing requested that the increase in the approved project estimate would only be sought from the Legislative Council (LegCo) after the Chief Executive election, and that this was agreed with the contractors, the Transport and Housing Bureau categorically clarified that the Secretary for Transport and Housing never met with any individual contractors on this matter and never suggested seeking additional funding from the LegCo to increase the approved project estimate of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities after the Chief Executive election.
