Veterans to lead Cantonese opera artists in performances of Southern School's "Wu Song"

     Veteran Cantonese opera stars will collaborate with talented young actors to perform "The Artistic Quintessence of the Southern School of Cantonese Opera: Wu Song" in May.
 
     In the three shows of "Wu Song", seasoned and acclaimed artists will lead young actors with high potential to take turns to play Wu Song and Pan Jinlian in different scenes. The full-length drama is being staged to transfer this gem of the Southern School of Cantonese opera to the new generation and to reignite the glory of the traditional play.
 
     The main cast for the performances is Yuen Siu-fai, Li Qiuyuan, Lee Lung, Chan Ho-kau, Chan Wing-yee, Chan Hung-chun, Loong Koon-tin and Tse Hue-ying.

May 19 (Friday), 7.30pm
Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre

May 20 (Saturday), 7.30pm
Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall
Tickets: $120, $180, $260 and $320
 
May 21 (Sunday), 7.30pm
Auditorium, Tuen Mun Town Hall
Tickets: $120, $180, $240 and $300
 
      "The Artistic Quintessence of the Southern School of Cantonese Opera: Wu Song" will be performed in "guanhua" (also known as Zhongzhou intonations) with Chinese surtitles.      A pre-performance talk (in Cantonese) will be held at 7.30pm on May 18 (Thursday) at AC1, Level 4, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The speaker will be Yuen Siu-fai. A post-performance talk (in Cantonese) will be held at 7.30pm on May 22 (Monday) at AC2, Level 4, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The speakers will include Yuen Siu-fai, Chan Wing-yee and Tse Hue-ying. Admission is free with limited seats available on a first-come, first-served basis.
