CSSA caseload for February 2017

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in February showed a rise of 151 cases, representing an increase of 0.1 per cent compared with that of January, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (March 22).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of February stood at 236 681 (see attached table), with a total of 346 380 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.0 per cent and 0.3 per cent to 5 149 cases and 14 089 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases showed a slight decrease of 0.2 per cent to 17 481 cases. Both single parent cases and ill health cases dropped slightly by 0.1 per cent to 26 804 cases and 24 112 cases respectively.

     Old age cases registered a slight increase of 0.2 per cent to 144 666 cases.
