The "Palace Museum Academy" talk series, which is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, will be launched in April. The Director of the Palace Museum, Dr Shan Jixiang, has been invited to speak in the first talk entitled "The Countenance of Public Cultural Facilities - The Palace Museum as an Example" to commence the series. Dr Shan will discuss the development of the Forbidden City in the past, present and future through eight aspects - sincerity, clarity, peacefulness, ingenuity, gratification, joy, comfort and enthusiasm - to lead the audience to understand more about the history and stories of the Forbidden City. 

     The talk will take place at the Theatre of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum from 3pm to 5pm on April 8 (Saturday). It will be conducted in Putonghua (Cantonese simultaneous interpretation service available) with free admission. Interested parties can reserve seats through www.museums.gov.hk/pmtalk or call 3749 9878 during office hours. A maximum of two seats can be reserved for each reservation, and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

     The "Palace Museum Academy" talk series is one of the events under the "In Touch with Palace Museum" campaign being presented by the LCSD from the end of 2016 to July 2017. Through a series of exhibitions, events and educational activities, the campaign highlights the essence of traditional Chinese culture and its modern connotations, as well as the role and contribution of Hong Kong and the Palace Museum in the inheritance of Chinese culture. It leads the public to discover that far being anachronistic or outmoded, traditional culture still holds a wealth of wisdom for their daily lives.
