Fatal traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau this morning (March 16) in which a 76-year-old man died.

     At about 10.30am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 44-year-old man reportedly knocked down the 76-year-old man when it was moving backward at 193 Castle Peak Road-Chau Tau.

     The man was trapped under the vehicle and rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was rushed to North District Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.35am.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in late-April.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
