SED visits Islands District (with photos)

The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, this afternoon (March 16) met with Islands District Council (IDC) members and called on the school managers, headmaster, teachers and students of a primary school on Cheung Chau.
Accompanied by the District Officer (Islands), Mr Anthony Li, Mr Ng first met with the Chairman of the IDC, Mr Chow Yuk-tong, and District Council members to learn about the overall development of the district and exchange views on education and other district issues.
Mr Ng then went to Cheung Chau Sports Ground to officiate at the Sports Day of Kwok Man School. In addition to sounding the starting horn for a relay race and presenting prizes to winners, he also gave words of encouragement to all students.
Speaking at the event, Mr Ng said that participation in sports can promote both physical and mental health, enhancing perseverance and resilience. He encouraged students to face challenges with courage, and stand ready to strive for success in the wake of failure and scale new heights after achieving success.
Afterwards, he met with the school supervisor, Mr Yung Chi-ming; the headmaster, Mr Lai Tsz-man; and representatives of the Parent-Teacher Association and was briefed on the school's learning and teaching arrangements as well as ways of home-school co-operation.
