Office of The Ombudsman issues clarification concerning response to Direct Investigation Report
******************************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Office of The Ombudsman:

On the Transport Department (TD)'s response to The Ombudsman's Direct Investigation Report "Government Regulation of Special Transport Services for Persons with Mobility Difficulties" (the DI Report) issued today (March 9), the Office of The Ombudsman made the following clarification:

The DI Report has not stated that "improvement was not made until the Office of the Ombudsman stepped in to investigate". The TD's comment is therefore incorrect.

As a matter of fact, the DI Report details in its Chapter 4 the actions that had been taken by the TD over the years in monitoring the performance of Rehabus. In Chapter 7 of the report, we mentioned that had the TD taken more proactive actions earlier, the serious inadequacy of Rehabus service could have been dealt with earlier.
