Territory-wide operation to combat illegal parking
**************************************************

The Police will conduct a one-week territory-wide operation starting from tomorrow (March 9) to March 15 to combat illegal parking and offences which obstruct traffic flow.

Stringent enforcement action will be taken during the operation.  The Police will issue fixed penalty tickets to drivers who park their vehicles illegally, particularly those involve double parking, illegal loading, unloading, picking-up or alighting activities and stopping or waiting at restricted zones, especially near bus stops.

A Police spokesman said that the Force would issue multiple tickets and take summons action against drivers who contravened illegal parking regulations, obstructed traffic flow or caused danger to other road users. Illegally parked vehicles would also be towed away if necessary.

The Police will continue to step up publicity and education for road users on traffic regulations, with a view to minimising traffic accidents and maintaining smooth traffic flow.
