SDEV continues visit to Beijing (with photos)

     The Secretary for Development, Mr Eric Ma, today (February 21) continued his visit to Beijing and paid courtesy calls on Mainland government ministries which have policy areas that relate to the work of the Development Bureau.

     In the morning, Mr Ma called on the Director-General of the Department of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce, Mr Sun Tong, to discuss the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, Hong Kong's engagement in the Mainland's foreign aid construction projects in foreign countries and the Belt and Road Initiative.
    
     Mr Ma then met with the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources, Mr Tian Xuebin, to exchange views on water resources management, Dongjiang water supply agreements and a visit by Legislative Council members to Dongjiang.

     In the afternoon, Mr Ma met with the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Huang Liuquan. They exchanged views on the development and business opportunities of professional services in Guangdong and other provinces and municipalities on the Mainland, Hong Kong construction industries' participation in the Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Belt and Road Initiative, and Hong Kong's engagement in the Mainland's overseas aid construction projects.

     Accompanying Mr Ma on the visit was the Permanent Secretary for Development (Planning and Lands), Mr Michael Wong. Mr Ma will return to Hong Kong tonight.
