Update on cluster of Norovirus cases in Kowloon Hospital

Regarding a male psychiatric ward in Kowloon Hospital in which some patients had been confirmed as having Norovirus recently, the hospital announced the following updates today (February 17).
One more 56-year-old male patient and a ward staff member presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms in the psychiatric ward today. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patient and he tested positive for Norovirus. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. The condition of the staff member concerned is stable after medical treatment and he is on sick leave.
Infection control measures at the ward concerned have been enhanced, all other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
