Twenty-three building plans approved in December

     The Buildings Department approved 23 building plans in December, with two on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 18 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, five were for commercial developments, five were for factory and industrial developments and five were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 19 building projects that, when completed, will provide 39 469 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 209 units, and 133 945 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for eight building projects.

     The department also issued 19 occupation permits, with six on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 148 079 sq m, involving 2 533 units, and 97 975 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in December totalled about $8.2 billion.

     In addition, 10 demolition consents involving 10 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 648 reports about unauthorised building works in December and issued 1 692 removal orders on unauthorised works.
