******************************
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Stephen Sui, issued the following statement today (February 13):

It is my great honour to be nominated by the Chief Executive and appointed by the Central People's Government as the Secretary for Labour and Welfare. I sincerely thank the Central People's Government and the Chief Executive for their trust in me.

In the past nine years, I have been serving in the Labour and Welfare Bureau (LWB) in my capacity as the Commissioner for Rehabilitation and the Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the  former Secretary for Labour and Welfare and Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, for his guidance and trust in me, as well as to the highly efficient and professional teams in the LWB, the Labour Department and the Social Welfare Department for their staunch support rendered to me.

In the coming months under the current term Government, I am committed to serving whole-heartedly with all my strength and will continue to adopt a humble and sincere attitude in serving our community and the people of Hong Kong. I will also continue to work closely with my colleagues to take forward a wide range of policy initiatives which are beneficial to people's livelihood in the areas of labour and welfare.
