SWD launches Elderly Information Website
****************************************
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) today (February 13) launched the Elderly Information Website (elderlyinfo.swd.gov.hk), which is a dedicated website on long-term care services for the elderly, in a bid to enhance the transparency of service information.

The website offers one-stop licensing and service information on all residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs) licensed under the Residential Care Homes (Elderly Persons) Ordinance as well as information about recognised service providers (RSPs) under the Pilot Scheme on Community Care Service Voucher for the Elderly.

A spokesman for the SWD said, "The website has been developed with an aim of providing one-stop information for the public, enabling them to browse service information on all the RCHEs in Hong Kong for enhanced transparency. Equipped with functions for searching and making comparisons, the website provides various types of information about RCHEs in respect of their licences, services, fees, staffing, facilities and service performance, including records of convictions under the Residential Care Homes (Elderly Persons) Ordinance and/or the Residential Care Homes (Elderly Persons) Regulations. Information on whether the RCHEs have participated in any accreditation schemes or the Service Quality Group Scheme is also available."

The website contains basic information registered with the Licensing Office of RCHEs on more than 730 RCHEs in Hong Kong. Photographs and detailed information of chargeable items of these RCHEs are also uploaded to the website, except those which are yet to be provided by some elderly homes.

"The website marks a step forward in the provision of one-stop information and enhancing transparency of elderly services information. It enables the public to compare the services being provided by different RCHEs and/or RSPs so as to make informed choices," the spokesman said.

"After the launch of the website, the department will continue to keep in view its usage and explore whether there is room for improvement. To ensure that the website contains the most up-to-date information about the RCHEs, responsible persons of the elderly homes may download the Information Updating Form from the website at any time and submit it to the SWD. The department will also regularly invite the persons-in-charge to provide the latest fee schedules of the elderly homes for uploading to the website for public reference," he added.
