CSSA caseload for December 2016

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December 2016 showed a drop of 602 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared with that of November, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (January 25).
      
     The total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 237 056 (see attached table), with a total of 348 431 recipients.
      
     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.3 per cent and 0.7 per cent to 5 230 cases and 14 340 cases respectively. Single parent cases and ill health cases also dropped by 0.6 per cent and 0.5 per cent to 26 985 cases and 24 184 cases respectively. Old age cases showed a slight decrease of 0.1 per cent to 144 336 cases.
      
     Permanent disability cases registered a slight increase of 0.1 per cent to 17 602 cases.
