Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

Sun Fook Kong Construction Limited was fined $15,000 at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (January 24) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on March 21, 2014 at a building renovation site in Tuen Mun. A worker suddenly caught fire while repairing a timber floor that had just been covered with a flammable coating. He sustained serious burns and subsequently passed away.
