Fatal traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau

At about 11.05am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 34-year old man and a private car driven by a 62-year-old man were travelling in sequence along San Tin Highway towards Sheung Shui. When reaching near Shek Wu Wai, the LGV reportedly stopped due to mechanical failure. The private car failed to brake and collided with the LGV.
The private car driver was trapped inside the compartment and rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious head injuries, the driver was rushed to North District Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.49am. The 34-year-old male LGV driver was sent to North District Hospital in conscious state.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
