SCED attends WTO Informal Ministerial Gathering in Switzerland (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, attended the World Trade Organization (WTO) Informal Ministerial Gathering in Davos, Switzerland, today (January 20, Davos time).

     At the gathering, ministers discussed possible outcomes to be achieved at the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in December this year and how to accelerate convergence.

     Speaking at the working session of the gathering, Mr So said, "It is in the interest of all members to keep the multilateral trading system strong and growing. Hong Kong, China remains committed to advancing negotiations on the remaining Doha Development Agenda issues. We are also ready to explore other ideas that could facilitate trade flows, liberalise trade and promote development."

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong tomorrow (January 21).
