Hospital Authority announces senior appointments (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesman announced the following senior appointments today (January 19).
 
     Dr Doris Tse Man-wah will take up the post of Cluster Chief Executive (Kowloon West) and Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Princess Margaret Hospital and North Lantau Hospital with effect from August 1, 2017, succeeding Dr Nancy Tung Sau-ying upon her retirement.
 
     Dr Tse is a specialist in Advanced Internal Medicine, Critical Care and Palliative Medicine. She is currently the HCE of Caritas Medical Centre (CMC), a position she has held since 2014. Dr Tse is instrumental to the CMC Phase II Redevelopment Project which has been put into operation since 2014. Under her leadership, CMC has embarked upon a series of new programmes to increase service capacity and coverage such as the opening of the Day Surgery Suite, the Ambulatory Urology Centre and the Kowloon West Cluster Day Chemotherapy Centre.
 
     Besides being HCE, Dr Tse also plays an active role in Kowloon West Cluster. She is the cluster Clinical Stream Coordinator (Medicine) and the Winter Surge Coordinator.
 
     Meanwhile, Dr Ching Wai-kuen will take up the post of HCE of Yan Chai Hospital (YCH), succeeding Dr Lai King-kwong upon his retirement, with effect from April 1, 2017.
 
     Dr Ching is a specialist in Psychiatry and Community Medicine. Since 2011, he has been the HCE of Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital at Sandy Bay, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Fung Yiu King Hospital and MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre. Prior to this, he served as Chief Manager (Medical Grade) at the HA Head Office and was responsible for devising corporate policies that impacted the medical workforce in the HA.
 
     Dr Ching is a seasoned senior executive with ample management experience both at the corporate and cluster levels. In particular, he has led the hospitals in providing more advanced and tailor-made services for patients with bone diseases and patients requiring long-term ventilator services.
 
     The HA Chairman, Professor John Leong, and the HA Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, congratulated Dr Tse and Dr Ching on their new appointments and wished them every success in taking up the new posts.
 
     Professor Leong and Dr Leung also expressed appreciation for the contributions of Dr Tung and Dr Lai in the public healthcare system for over 30 years and in particular for Dr Tung's proficient leadership in Kowloon West Cluster and Dr Lai's dedication in the management of North District Hospital and YCH. They wished both Dr Tung and Dr Lai a happy retirement.
